Mac OS X Leopard

It has arrived! One day after the official launch of Mac OS X Leopard the courier delivered a small parcel containing the object of desire. After opening the box it took no time to prepare my iMac for the upgrade; first updated the backup of my documents, music and photos (yes I actually backup my stuff on a regular basis) and then fired up the installer.

All in all the upgrade was painless. It took about 40 mins give or take a few to upgrade the existing OS. After rebooting into the freshly upgraded system I had a browse around to get acustomed to the slightly more polished look and feel, expecting it to be a bit slower than before due to the new added eye candy… but, it actually felt more responsive than before! After logging into the new system for the first time, Time Machine asked for permission to backup to an external hard drive which it had detected which I then granted.

All applications I opened up seemed to be working as usual, only Mail had to do a little update on already downloaded mails. ToDos and Notes in Mail are features I yet have to try out and see what use I can make of them…

The only thing that really annoyed me was the missing bluetooth support in Address Book! No more sending SMS from within Address Book using a connected mobile phone! What were the Apple engineers thinking when they removed that really useful feature?!

I hope not to find any more ‘new features’ like the missing bluetooth support in Address Book.
