Lunar Eclipse

Last night I was lucky enough to witness our planet douse its faithful companion in a wonderful reddish glow… here are a few pictures I took from my balcony. Even in London the weather didn’t play any tricks and I could get a few clear shots… looks like I’ll have to get a D-SLR after all…

A New Old Hobby

Is it only me or does one always get so immersed in work as an IT specialist? Instead of reading a good novel I tend to read books on Java etc. Afraid of my geekieness getting the better of me I decided to take up a new, or rather old hobby again: photography.

After taking my small camera (a Rollei) along everywhere I went I noticed that it wasn’t really up to the task as it didn’t have a normal view finder. Camera manufactureres somehow thought it would be better to just stick to the 2.5″ LCD screens instead of having both… try and take a picture in the gleaming sun with only a LCD screen! You’ll be guessing what picture you took…

So finally a few days ago my new camera arrived: a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7! When the parcel arrived I couldn’t believe how small it was! It turned out to be more compact than I had imagined. After opening it and examening the content I knew this was the right buy. The camera is not too small but not too bulky to carry around almost everywhere you go either.

Now well equipped for my photographic adventures I will never leave the house without my new toy and of course I’ll continue uploading new images to my Flickr photo page.
